My Mumford and Sons Modeh Ani

Mumford and sons making Havdallah ? Mumford and sons making Havdallah ?

My morning Modeh Ani is my porch prayer this morning, fueled by half eaten apple, fresh strong coffee, and the hysterical banjo driven sweet throaty sound of “Nigunei MUMFORD” pumping through my beats, hysterically shrieking out their harmonic truths with typical urgency.

Listening to their music and the way they treat each song as if it’s the last they will ever sing, as if they are being pursued by something or someone that’s always closing in, the frenzied tempo suggestive of a need to outrun time before it closes in to shut down the music — never fails to jolt me out of my complacency. “Roll away the stone ….awaken your soul….collect your courage” “you hold your truth so purely”…..!

I’m late for *Minyan. Time to take off the headphones and put on my *Tefillin. I do so today with eagerness. It’s gonna be a great day!!!!

Much love
